The aim of the course is to review the knowledge required
to pass the Part II FANZCA examination and to assist candidates
in their preparation for both oral and written examinations.
The course runs full time over a two week period. Over 60 hours of tuition are provided.
Registrants will participate in lectures, tutorials, case studies, ECG interpretation and x-ray
assessments. A formal practice viva session is included. There will be sessions devoted
specifically to exam preparation and exam technique.

Speakers are encouraged to present their topics in an interactive format based around case scenarios
and previous examination questions. You will be encouraged to take an active part in the sessions
and will be expected to participate in the discussions. Although the scope of the course is extensive,
it is not possible within the given timeframe to review all the information required for the exam.

Most of the registrants attending the course are about to sit the Part II FANZCA exam. As such, most
of the information should be familiar to them. Some registrants prefer to attend the course well in
advance of the exam. We recognise that this is a valid way of experiencing first hand both the
standard that is required to pass the exam and the breadth of topics.
Candidates will be divided into two smaller groups for most presentations to encourage
greater interaction and participation. The groups will be mixed and will not be allocated
on the basis of proximity to the exam.

The cost of the course is NZ$2,000 and will be held in the Clinical Education Centre at Auckland City Hospital.

Formal Viva practice sessions will be held on both Wednesdays of the course
between 0720 and 0845 in the Department of Anaesthesia.
One of the tutorials will be an Anatomy demonstration lab at the School of Medicine Anatomy lab.
